A relaxed atmosphere where a small group of like minded artists can come together to paint in a medium of their choice. Watercolour, Gouache and Oil materials will be supplied, so you can give it a go.

We will paint and discuss art to a little music in an atmosphere of relaxed conviviality. All abilities are welcome and it’s a great way of emmersing yourselves into the world of painting.

The price is £35 for a 2 hour session. Also a yearly one-off fee of £10 for Kew Studio membership.

We have limited spaces for 6 artist at a time, so please pay for your session in advance by clicking here. Once done you are entitled for the next availabe space.

Each session costs £35 which includes photo references for my demo painting. You also get a written bespoke critique of your homework and each week as we discover new tricks and secrets that will advance your watercolour skills even further.

I welcome my painting community to my April Andalucian Odyssey in 2025 with 5 painting mornings in Sensational Seville, an absolute feast for the eyes of the watercolourist, never mind the brilliant food and wine.

Before we go I will get you up to speed with 'en plein air' technique on my regular Wednesday Zoom at 2.30pm UK, if you can't make this you can still watch the recording. This is £35 per session.

I take a direct flight to Seville on Tuesday 22nd April, the day after Easter Monday. My 5 painting mornings will be from Tuesday 23rd to Saturday 27th. You can of course stay for longer and perhaps visit some of my previous retreats like Cadiz and Cordoba, all within easy reach by train from Seville.

I will be staying at the amazing Hotel Las Casas de la Judería in the heart of Seville old town, so little walking required. You can book this through www.booking.com with free cancellation.

Between 6.30pm and 7.30pm we meet for ‘Sangria Time’ at the hotel where we review work and talk about the next days painting. As always, non painting partners and friends are always welcome.

You organise your own accomodation, travel and food.

My watercolour retreats are fairly unique compared to mainstream organised painting retreats. Mine are designed to give you affordability and freedom. You organise your own travel, food and accomodation, you only pay me for your morning painting sessions, the rest of the time is free to do your own thing. It’s designed for grown ups who don’t want painting intensity, but would rather have time to explore and enjoy their holiday.

I welcome my painting community to my retreat on the historic and beautiful island of Crete. We will capture the strong shadows of ancient Greece in watercolour, never mind the sun, sea and lovely food and drink.

We will all stay at the wonderful Emeraude nestled in the elegant residential area of Juan Les Pins, the base and starting point of my morning ‘en plein air’ painting sessions. You can book your rooms in advance directly through me.

Each day starts with a garden breakfast from 8.30am to 9.30am. Then we’re off for an 'en Plein Air' painting morning followed by the option of lunch at nearby restaurants at these potential locations.

Day. 1 Antibes plus lunch.

Day 2. Mougins plus lunch

Day 3. Biot plus lunch.

Day 4 Bon Port plus lunch.

Day 5 St. Paul de Vence plus lunch.

Some of these locations will be by mini van at an average cost of 30 Euros return.

Between 6.30pm and 7.30pm we meet in the gardens for ‘Rosé Time’ where we review work and talk about the next days painting. As always, non painting partners and friends are always welcome, but will be asked to pay a £40 supplement for drinks.

Michael and Andrew Gray are our friendly and helpful hosts at the Emeraude, the oldest hotel in JLP.
